Marion Garmel

Think vampires. Think crime families. Combine the two and you get Kindred: The Embraced, getting a 90-minute airing at 8 p.m. Tuesday on Fox (WXIN). It’s an almost Gothic soap opera in which vampires seem to rule modern-day San Francisco.

Mark Frankel stars as Julian Luna, the prince of the city, who must battle to keep peace amonf five warring vampire clans so the “masquerade” won’t be unmasked and the “Kindred” can go on hiding in clear view of humans who might take a dim view of their peculiar habits.

C. Thomas Howell is the police detective on their trail. It can be real creepy at times, and gory, but it has that Aaron Spelling touch. These vampires seem to grow on you. The show will move into its regular 9 p.m. Wednesday time slot on April 17.
